Cornered Rat is a narrative short film written, directed, and edited by Dong-Reng Hong. The story depicts a teenager who skips class to seek help from his single father at a baseball court. The film premiered at the BronzeLens Film Festival of Atlanta and went on to win the Silver Award and Best Editing at the MOD Short Film Contest in Taiwan.

The film follows three kids who aim to visit the beach before their school graduation, which marks the end of their childhood. The film premiered in the US at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and was later aired on Taiwan Public Television Service. It was nominated for Best Student Shorts at the 36th Golden Harvest Awards & Short Film Festival in Taiwan.
